I often forget the stories my Parents have told me about their lives, it’s not that I don’t listen or don’t want to know – I just have a really bad memory. Although it doesn’t bare thinking of there will be a day when they cannot tell me – my Gran is suffering from Alzheimer’s sadly some of her stories are now lost, I wish I had, had something like this I could have asked to jot some little bits in nothing long maybe not fill it all but just some little pieces of her I could hold onto. So with Father’s Day just around the corner what could be a better time to get your Dad one of the gorgeous ‘Dear Dad’ journals from you to me - with the choice to either design your own cover with photos of him or maybe both of you and write in the questions you would love to know the answers to (£19.99) or grab a pre-designed book – there really is something for everyone no matter how much or little time you have.
Containing around 60 questions Dear Dad ask’s things such as:What are your earliest memories? What were you best at when you were at school?Describe a special day you had with my mother..How did you feel when you found out you were going to be a father? What piece of advice would you like to offer me?and of course offers an area where they record there name, date of birth, eye colour, height, blood group, and date of completion. The start and end of the book is completed by you. I’m still thinking what I would like right to my Dad for mine but the front page looks like this:
Every other page has mainly one question on there are a few with more, with the opposite page having a small picture in the bottom corner which often has something to do with the question being asked. Such is this lovely little bunny which is situated opposite the page asking about childhood pets.
I’m really looking forward to giving my Dad this one – and I’ve already told my Mum she will be getting one at Christmas for her to fill in. I think it is one of the best idea’s I have come across.
To grab your Dad one for this Father’s day head to the website now where you can pick up these pre-designed ones for an amazing
£12.25.
I’d love to know what you think of this idea. Do you love it as much as me?
*Book received free of charge in return for my review – all views are of course honest.
Oh I really like this!
I love this idea, I’ve never seen anything like it before
great idea, i love it
It’s a brilliant idea, great for gran parents too. We really should record our history.
Like most of you I take lots & lots of photo’s, but very rarely do I print them out, they are all stored on a disc/external hard drive. So unlike the my parants generation we actually won’t have as many photo’s even though we have better technology, weird huh!
So recording history is so important.
One of these would be great for Mother, she’s 81 years young in a few weeks & as much as we always talk about her family I don’t know all my Nanna’s brothers & sisters, & their relatives, so getting them on record is so important.
Thank you for bringing us this innovative gift. x
I actually said to my Mum when we were talking about this I wish I had known about it before for my Gran, she has such an amazing story behind her but I can’t remember all she has told me – sadly it’s too late now. But this ones going to my Dad next weekend and my Mum shall be getting one as well.
Might not be something used much but such an amazing thing to pass down through the family. To think it might still be being passed on in generations to come..
xx
Ahhh Sarah this review brought tears to my eyes! It is a lovely idea and I think I will have to purchase one for my dad. I have a book similar that I am writing for my four children. It is ‘Dear Mum, from you to me – journal of a lifetime’ and I intend to keep it for them until they are older or if anything should happen to me (my health isn’t too good). Inside it has pages with heading such as ‘what are your earliest memories?’, ‘what were your favourite toys or games?’, ‘what do you remember about holidays as a child?’ etc. They are the sorts of questions children ask along the way but hen would probably forget the answers to as they grow older. I have discussed many of the topics with my children but want then to have them in writing as a keep sake if anything should ever happen to me. I try to fill in a page a night if I can. It is very personal and sometimes filling in a page makes me smile and sometimes I get emotional.
There are other books in the series – if you look at http://www.fromyoutome.com you will see them. You and me are very alike in many ways Sarah – I have noticed similarities when reading your posts. Thank you x
I’m getting that one for my Mum come Christmas as well
– so lovely that your thinking of that already, it’s odd often takens a shock to realise what we have missed, would be amazing to see something like this become common place for everyone.
I have to admit I must of asked most of the questions in the Dear Dad but could I remember most the answers – that I highly doubt.
*hugs* Thank you x
Nice idea.
