Choosing the perfect ring for the perfect woman

Choosing the perfect ring for the lady in your life is a very important decision. Engagement and wedding rings are pieces which will be worn for a lifetime, so it’s vital that you carefully consider the options available and only make a purchase once you’re sure you’ve found the perfect item. Though this decision may seem like a daunting one, the following guidelines will help you to make the right choice.
Seek the opinions of friends and family
It’s likely that you may want to buy a ring as a surprise. As such, it can be difficult to find out what sort of pieces your partner likes without letting her know what you’re planning. Asking her friends and family members is a great way to find out the type of pieces she loves. Many women will have discussed this with their loved ones, so you’re likely to find plenty of inspiration.
Consider your partner’s existing jewellery and style
It may seem tempting to go out and buy the biggest diamond you can afford, but this isn’t always the best strategy for choosing the perfect ring for your partner. Carefully consider the type of jewellery which she wears on a day to day basis, and look for a ring which will complement her other items. If she rarely wears any jewellery at all, it will be wise to look for an understated piece.
Spend whatever you can afford
Depending on who you ask, you are likely to be told that it’s essential for you to spend between one to three months’ income on an engagement or wedding ring. Whilst you should invest in a quality piece and shouldn’t try to cut any corners, don’t get too hung up on the amount of money that you should spend. Instead, budget for whatever you can comfortably afford. The sentiment of the piece is far more important than the cost. Astley Clarke offer striking gold rings in a range of designs, to suit all budgets.

By carefully assessing your options before rushing into a purchase, you can ensure that you’ll choose the perfect ring for your bride-to-be. The reaction of your partner when you reveal your choice will be well worth all of the careful planning and consideration.

  1. i love that ring in the above picture. My oh brought me a lovely ring last week it could have cost 50p £50 or more but i dont care i just love it :O) My engagement ring was a surprise from him too and he picked very well.

  2. I love my rings, about six years ago, we treated ourselves to a Caribbean cruise – saved up for three years it was worth every penny – we was in Aruba for Valentines day & we had a trip booked to see the Island. What I didn’t see was my husband speaking to our lovely coach driver, we arrived at the top of this cliff with the most breathtaking view of the sea & the island below, it was an amazing sight. We got off the coach & walked towards the edge of the viewing station, my husband then did a cough & everyone went silent & he told me how much he loved me, then gave me a beautiful silver ring with the birthstones of all our children set around the band. Bet you can guess what I did, yes tear works, everyone was clapping & cheering, the driver had secretly told the rest of the tour what was to happen & where, it was truly amazing. This is from the man who couldn’t make a speech at our wedding as he was too nervous & asked my brother to read it out for him!
Sorry got to go need a tissue again.

  3. We chose my engagement ring together after he surprised me with a romantic weekend abroad & surprise proposal.

  4. I’m a huge ring lover, I don’t wear too much jewellery but a good ring I do like, in fact I went for rings for my 18th and 21st as I knew they are something I would always wear. x

  5. Oh wow how amazing! What a totally amazing thing to have happened, and what an incredible thing for your husband to had done, so much meaning in the stones he decided to have set as well. Gorgeous. x
