A.K.A Cosmetics Mascara and Polish Review.

A.K.A. Cosmetics logo

Launched earlier in the year A.K.A are one of the newest cosmetic brands on the block, made with the concept that putting on your make up becomes ritual, as you put your make up on you can grow in confidence, the colours can change your personality, the idea that you can be transformed by the application of makeup is the idea behind A.K.A.
Made with quality at the forefront of their minds, all items are made with attention to detail, to make sure they have the best application and wear ability possible.
All A.K.A products are made in the UK.

A.K.A Mascara in Black and Nail Varnish in Red

I was sent two of the products from the range to have a try I was sent a mascara in black and nail varnish in red.
The first thing that caught my attention was the fabulous packages, I love all the wording they have on them, a real confidence boost with each one with wording like sex kitten, OMG stunning, head tuner and never looked so good, maybe we should all start telling ourselves this each morning as we put on our makeup though of course we are all these things make up or not.
Mascara in Black – £7.99 for 12g (also available in Brown and Black Brown.)

A.K.A Mascara in Black

I found the mascara really easy to apply, it most definitely separated my lashes, making them more defined and longer looking, I used two coats on the bottom picture (top without) and found it quickly  dried, which is always useful as I hate having my glasses off for long (blind as a bat without them).
The formula contains pro vitamin B5 and is also fragrance free.
(Not sure why you would want fragrance in a mascara I could only see that as being an irritant :/.)
Nail Varnish in Red – £5 for 14ml

AKA Nail Varnish in Red Swatches

Available in 12 different shades, covering day and evening colours, there is a colour to suit every occasion.
I found 2 coats was just right for coverage, the formula was slightly runny, I had to get used to putting it on as I often found I had too much on the brush, but once I got used to it, I could quickly and easily cover each nail, without too much mess. The wear was good; I managed to get a couple of days chip free from it for each use. (As long term blog readers will know 24 hours is classed as long wear for me I just don’t do nail varnish’s well).
Both of these products have made it onto my ‘rebuy’ list, the prices are amazing for the quality. I would strongly suggest giving them a try if you haven’t so far.
If you fancy looking through all of their range or want to find out more information on A.K.A head to their website now.
*I was sent the two items from A.K.A for the purpose of this review, my opinions though are as always honest.

  1. OOOO RED AIL VARNISH, it looks fire engine red, is that right not an orangey red, but a proper scarlet red. That is my favourite colour, my usual stockist has closed (wasn’t me I bought loads of cosmetics from them!) & I miss my red, only got one bottle left, I buy it in bulk if I like the colour then I’m not going to run out of a favourite.
I love to wear red to the casino, it seems to intimidate the other (male) poker players when I have my talon red. I love my long nails & am gutted when I break one (I bet I break a few this week as its my eldest sons wedding next Friday & I’ve spent six months loving & caring for them! So guaranteed to break at least half this week as well as the world biggest zit coming up!)

I’m just off to have a look on the AKA sight, thanks hunny for this post. x

  2. Hi Sarah! These products look great, and I agree that those words on the packaging make it more fun! I love the red nail polish, as bright reds and pinks are really all I wear!

  3. The picture is pretty true to life, it really is a red, red. Good way to do it if you find a colour you like, always annoying when they stop selling a certain colour.
Haha I bet it get’s everyone looking ;) might even put them off a little hehe.
Ekkkk not long at all to go now, *fingers crossed* no nail breaking and that spot just disappears soon! xx
